So, it seems like all the people calling, writing and just passing on how upset they are with the new tiered pricing plan by Time Warner (Road Runner) has grabbed the attention of someone in power. According to an eWeek article U.S. Rep. Eric Massa of New York has decided to stand up for the consumer and put Time Warner in it’s place.
In the eWeek article Massa is quoted as saying, “nothing more than a large corporation making a move to force customers into paying more money.” He also goes on to echo my previous post saying, “Time Warner believes they can do this in Rochester, N.Y.; Greensboro, N.C.; and Austin and San Antonio, Texas, and it’s almost certainly just a matter of time before they attempt to overcharge all of their customers.”
I think this is a great first step in the right direction, but would still urge anyone that hasn’t written or called either your representative or Time Warner to do so. With any luck this will put an end to Time Warner’s bullying and keep other ISP’s from jumping on the band wagon to screw over the consumer so they can get a bigger bonus.
